Bill Belichick Could Lose on Purpose Week 17 to Deny Jets Trevor Lawrence

Colin Cowherd: “I don’t believe in conspiracy theories, and players do not ‘tank’, but we saw the Colts not play Peyton Manning that last year so they could get Andrew Luck. We know what happens in the NBA Draft; you just sit starters and play ‘guys’ – that’s TANKING. Right now the Jets have the number one pick and the Jags have the number two pick. If they tie, the Jags get the pick in a strength of schedule tiebreaker. If you look at the Jets’ schedule they’re going to get crushed in their next games against the Rams and Brown, but then it’s the Patriots in Week 17. It’s PERFECT. Belichick HATES the Jets and once was offered the job and turned it down. He’s already beaten and humiliated the Jets hundreds of times, but he could easily say ‘I’m not going to play Cam because Cam is our starting quarterback next year, there’s no reason to put him through that, and we’re going to give Jarrett Stidham a full week’… That’s ALL it takes. Jarret Stidham starts, the Jets win the game UGLY, and Belichick doesn’t have to face Trevor Lawrence for the next 5 years. If you’re Belichick, do you wanna face Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, and Tua Tagovailoa 20 times in the next 10 years??” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he could picture Bill Belichick and the Patriots starting Jarrett Stidham over Cam Newton in Week 17 versus the Jets to decrease New England's chances of winning, and in turn, lay down for the Jets and cost New York the opportunity to draft Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence with the number overall pick in the upcoming Draft.

The Jets currently sit at 0-13 on the season with tough games against the Rams and Browns coming up before a Week 17 finale in New England. The 1-12 Jaguars would ‘win’ the tiebreaker for the no. 1 pick if both teams finish with one victory.

Check out the video above as Colin details why Belichick may pull a fast one here in a meaningless game for the Patriots, and strategically screw the Jets into drafting one of the highest touted prospects in NFL Draft history.
