Rob Parker: “I don't deny Brock Purdy’s numbers, or have any issue with him because he’s Mr. Irrelevant. Brock Purdy is Draymond Green. If he went to a bad team or a different team, he would not have the career that he’s had, and he [Draymond Green] wouldn’t be elevated into going into the Hall of Fame. He’s Draymond Green – he's in the perfect situation and the perfect complement of players. He still has to deliver the ball, he still has to make decisions, he still has to play – so no one is saying that he’s not doing anything, but it’s like the cake batter has been mixed and he just has to put it in the oven. I still believe that if he has a bad game, anywhere – playoff game, NFC Championship game, Super Bowl, he doesn’t make the play or throws a bad pick... Whatever it is, the only way people will be able to validate him and his career and what he’s done is if he is the reason – he plays really well and they win a Super Bowl, and then I think all of that is erased. As soon as there is a misstep– just like we saw in the middle of the season with the three losses, and he wasn't winning and wasn't playing like he had played, the wolves came for him, and they will come for him in the postseason as well if he doesn't perform. Is it fair? No, it’s not, but that’s where he is.” (Full Segment Above)
Watch Rob Parker of Fox Sports Radio’s The Odd Couple explain why he thinks San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is the NFL’s version of Golden State Warriors enforcer Draymond Green.
Despite Purdy leading the NFL in QBR, passer rating, and touchdown passes, Parker says Purdy deserves the Draymond Green treatment of essentially the coattail rider for the Hall of Famers playing around him like Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Klay Thompson, as San Francisco as unquestionably the most talented roster in the league with names on offense the likes of Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk.
Check out the segment above as Parker says that the naysayers will once again wait to trounce on Purdy’s name the next bad game he has, saying it’s going to take heroic efforts during playoff games where Purdy proves to be the best player on the field if critics are finally going to admit that Purdy is actually the reason for San Francisco’s success, and that he’s not just an above-average player being propelled by elite talent around him.
