Rob Parker Says Yoshinobu Yamamoto 'Cheated His Legacy' By Joining Dodgers

Rob Parker: “I get it if you’re the Dodgers, you do whatever you can. Yamamoto is available -- you go after him, other teams were going after him, you have money to spend... I’m not mad at the Dodgers, I’m mad at Yamamoto. I’m mad at Yamamoto because I think he cheated himself by teaming up with Ohtani. He was a star in his own right in Japan. He was the real deal, he’s unbelievable. By teaming up with Ohtani, to me, he’s knocked his own value down. He's knocked his own legendary status down because he’s joining the ultimate guy. I look at Ohtani as ‘cheese’ and Yamamoto as ‘extra cheese.’ They already had the cheese. If the Dodgers win a couple World Series, it’s going to be about Ohtani. Yamamoto had a chance to set up his own legacy. If was already a star in Japan. He could go somewhere else and be up against Ohtani, and have the chance to 'be the guy' who beat Ohtani, and who becomes the legendary figure. I’m not saying he’s not going to get any credit, because pitchers are important in the playoffs, but don’t tell me Ohtani is not going to get the top billing. They already have Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, and they’ve won over 100 games the last two years without Ohtani and Yamamoto. Are they gonna win 140 out of 162?? They win 100 games every year without those guys. He had a better chance of going elsewhere and being in competition against Ohtani. I look at it like Kevin Durant. He went to the Warriors, they had already won, they win the two, he was the Finals MVP, but people still looked at him like ‘WELL, HE JOINED A TEAM THAT WON THE MOST GAMES EVER IN THE REGULAR SEASON, AND THEY WON A CHAMPIONSHIP WITHOUT HIM!’... We gave Durant some credit but he never got full credit. Yamamoto has signed up to be in the shadow of Ohtani, and I don't think he needed to do that. He is big enough where he could have been his own dog, and that’s where I say he’s made a mistake by signing with the Dodgers. He’s cheated himself, his career, and his legacy by joining such a star who is going to outshine everyone on that team for the next ten years.” (Full Segment Above)

Watch Rob Parker of Fox Sports Radio’s The Odd Couple blast recently signed Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto after he signed the most expensive free agent pitching contract in MLB history to team up with one of the most talented rosters in baseball history.

Check out the segment above as Parker rips Yamamoto for ‘cheating his career’ by effectively pulling a Kevin Durant-to-the-Warriors, and sacrificing his own legacy to take a back seat to a massive star in Shohei Ohtani who will everlastingly cast a shadow over Yamamoto’s greatness.
