Jason Whitlock: Dijonai Carrington's 'Attack' on Caitlin Clark was 'Racist'

Jason Whitlock: “You can’t fight in the NBA, you can’t play physical, you can’t do what was done to Michael Jordan. Ahh, but in the WNBA another girl can take her fake fingernails and stab them towards the eye of the woman carrying the league, and the ONLY reason why they’re flying private, and the ONLY reason why they’re drawing increased television ratings and attendance numbers. You can do whatever you want to Caitlin Clark and no one has a word to say about it. They cancelled a football game because Damar Hamlin got hurt. We’ve seen players previously die on the football field and the game continued. In the name of ‘safety’ everything comes to a halt but not for Caitlin Clark. Not when a Black girl attacks a White girl on national TV. Nothing to see here, nothing to talk about. No repercussions.
Everyone is afraid of Dijonai Carrington, and whatever Black Twitter, whatever the social justice warriors, or the whole Black Lives Matter movement [says]... Everybody is afraid. How long have people gone alone with the illogic of ‘WELL, BLACK PEOPLE CAN’T BE RACIST! THEY HAVE NO POWER! JASON, YOU HAVE NO POWER, YOU’RE BLACK! YOU’RE NOT CAPABLE OF DOING ANYTHING HARMFUL, YOU’RE BLACK!’... How can this be true if you can abuse Caitlin Clark, and out of fear of your Black privilege everybody is afraid to say anything about it? What do you mean ‘we have no power’? Clearly, Black women are in total control of the WNBA. And ‘why’ are they in control of the WNBA? ‘WELL, BECAUSE THEY’RE THE BEST PLAYERS!’... No one watched [before Caitlin Clark], no one cared. They’re the welfare league of the NBA. Hand them power if they’ve created something profitable and great. ‘OK, they’ve earned it. They created this league, it’s super successful, it’s making a profit, it’s not depending on the welfare and charity of men. OK, let’s hand over a little power to those guys; look what they’ve built.’ But they’ve built nothing. This league was on the brink of extension and this little White girl is doing them a favor and turning this league into a thing that has a chance. It won’t be profitable this year because they’ve blown more money flying people private and doing all this other stupid stuff that they’re doing. But they have a chance [to eventually make profit], but instead of showing an ounce of appreciation, instead of anybody looking out for her welfare and her protection, everybody sits there in silence.
People laughed at me and mocked me when at the beginning of the season I wrote and talked about on this show ‘hey, man, what Caitlin Clark is about to face is every bit as difficult as Jackie Robinson. No, there will not be credible death threats like Jackie Robinson faced, but in every other aspect this will be just as difficult, if not more difficult than Jackie Robinson.' I said that because I knew that so many people in corporate media and social media would not stand up and protect this woman, would not appropriately support this woman, and would leave her to the wolves. Leave her to the Dijonai Carringtons and Angel Reeses of the world.
I had someone reach out and say ‘WELL, CAITLIN HAS GOT TO FIGHT BACK!’... How can she? Do you know what that would set off if she started taking swings indiscriminately? She did slap Carrington later in the game with an inadvertent, well it wasn’t ‘inadvertent, an intentional [slap], but she had no choice. If she truly stood up, squared up, and got in a fight with one of these women, all hell would break loose, and there may be women on her own team, like Carrington’s giriflriend, NaLyssa Smith, who may swing on Caitlin Clark. The hostility directed at Caitlin Clark is ridiculous and it’s racist.
That’s why it was important just for objectivity and just for credibility to say ‘hey, Caitlin, quit bickering with the refs, it’s a bad look, it’s hurting your team, it’s hurting your play.’ Because when this moment came like ‘hey, someone better step up to defend her because these racist bigots have gotten out of hand’ it had to be someone with some credibility. I’m not just some Caitlin Clark worshiper groupie. I do like her and do like watching her play, but I will call balls and strikes. And when she swings and misses with her behavior, I will call it out. But this crap that she’s dealing with from this group of women without any protection from Cathy Engelbert, the WNBA Commissioner – right now, Dijonai Carrington should be dealing with a suspension for at least Game 2 and send a message to everyone in this league ‘YOU DON’T LIKE HER BUT THAT’S OUR MEAL TICKET AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DESTROY HER! I’M NOT GOING TO LET YOU DESTROY YOURSELF!'
Dijonai Carrington would rather be broke and at home playing basketball in her back yard than flying private, and making a living playing in the WNBA If her choices are ‘Caitlin Clark gets to be successful.' She’d rather be broke and racist than successful and non-racist. She’s got that much animus towards Caitlin Clark. She’s that kind of racist. This whole notion of ‘OH, BLACK PEOPLE CAN’T BE RACIST!’... Yes, you can, yes you are, and this ain’t the first time that we’ve seen it.”

Watch Jason Whitlock of Blaze TV’s Fearless call out the ‘racist attack’ Dijonai Carrington had on Caitlin Clark during Game 1 of the Indiana Fever vs. Connecticut Sun playoff series, as Whitlock says Carrington’s ‘fingernail stab’ on Clark while contesting a first quarter jump shot was intentional and sent with bigoted malice.

Check out the segment above as Whitlock says there’s a group of WNBA players who would rather be ‘broke and racist’ than to see Caitlin Clark succeed and bring the WNBA to financial levels it had previously never seen before.
