The Most Likely Landing Spots For Cam Newton in the Offseason

Listen to Colin Cowherd list potential landing spots for former NFL MVP Cam Newton in the offseason, as the former superstar quarterback has fallen on hard times with the influx of deteriorating health combined with a red hot backup rookie quarterback.

Newton at one time was one of the Top 5 best quarterbacks in the NFL, leading a dominant Panthers to a 15-1 record and to the Super Bowl in 2015. That season he threw 35 touchdown passes compared to only 10 interceptions, and also ran for 636 yards with another 10 touchdowns on the ground.

When Newton signed a 5-year, $103,800,000 deal with the team after 2015, we figured it was just the beginning of a long career with the Panthers, and possibly being the field general for the league’s next dynasty.

Except it was far from that. Newton would go 23-23 in his next 46 starts and never throw over 25 touchdowns in a season again. The Panthers, who were looking like a Seahawks type NFC juggernaut prided on a superior defense and smash mouth offense led by Newton, wouldn’t make the postseason again either.

Almost five years later and Newton appears on his way out of Carolina as Newton’s failing health as a mobile quarterback has the Panthers terrified about his effectiveness going forward. Couple that with rookie Kyle Allen actually having success for a Panthers team in the hunt for a playoff spot and Newton’s time with the team appears over with Newton having already gone on season-ending IR.

Check out the audio below as Colin speculates what NFL teams Cam could rehabilitate his stardom with.
