Packers Are No Longer Building Around Aaron Rodgers

Colin Cowherd: “Teams will tell you what they think of their quarterback in the Draft. If he’s immobile? More offensive linemen. If he’s got a big arm? More skilled players… Green Bay told you what they think; not only did they draft a quarterback who won’t play for 3 years, not only did they draft a running back with their second pick, and then 3 of their next 4 picks being interior lineman, but they also did not draft a wide receiver. What is it saying? The new coach is saying ‘I’m not building around Aaron, we’re building around a running game.’ The new coach is building an offense that is going to look a lot like the 49ers’. Multiple sets, heavy reliance on running the football, and setting up play action passes for Jimmy Garoppolo/Aaron Rodgers. You bailed on your last coach and you’re new coach doesn’t want to build around you either… The new guy wants you to be more Jimmy G than Patrick Mahomes… They don’t think Aaron can match up in the firework shows and they don’t trust him.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the Green Bay Packers’ draft said a lot about what they really think of Aaron Rodgers, as many Packers fans were frustrated by a 2020 Green Bay draft class that not only selected an enigmatic QB prospect late in the first round, but didn’t go after any wide receivers either.

Colin says Packers fans shouldn’t be in an uproar for the team failing to boost Rodgers, but actually acknowledge that the franchise has finally come to the realization that Rodgers is no longer an MVP caliber quarterback, and that the team has to build a run-heavy/play action based offense instead, that is similar to the San Francisco 49ers' style of play.

Check out the video above as Colin details why the Packers are purposely phasing Aaron out of their offense the same way the 49ers limited Jimmy Garoppolo last year.
