Former Redskins Player Says Team Wouldn't Let Players Do Anything Political

Will Blackmon: "It was impossible to do anything political over there. You literally just weren't allowed. The relationships Redskins executives had with the White House were close. Even when we had certain players who decided to take a knee or hold a fist up during the Colin Kaepernick thing, we had meetings on whether to do it or to not do it. We all tried to have a conversation and educate one another about it, but what I got out of the meeting was, 'Ya'll better stop kneeling.'" (Full Segment Above)

Listen to former NFL player Will Blackmon open up to Chris Broussard and Rob Parker (guest hosting for Dan Patrick) about his time as a member of the Washington Redskins in 2015 and 2016, and detail how the franchise went out of their way to control their players from ‘doing anything political.’

Check out the segment above as Blackmon describes how the team would have meetings during the season when Colin Kaepernick was protesting the National Anthem in 2016, where Redskins management was making it clear to the players that they didn't want them kneeling or holding up a fist during the pre-game Anthem.
