Listen to NFL Vegas sharps RJ Bell and Steve Fezzik join Jonas Knox on ‘Straight Out of Vegas’ to preview the 18th ranked team on their 2020 win/total prediction rankings, the Denver Broncos.
It hasn’t exactly been the most immaculate encore since the Denver Broncos Super Bowl championship in Super Bowl 50.
The Broncos are just 27-37 since their victory over the Carolina Panthers in February of 2016, have had three different head coaches in four seasons, and have played quarterbacks the likes of Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch, Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, and Brandon Allen.
Broncos President John Elway was getting branded as a quarterback recruiting stooge until they seemed to have finally nailed on 2019 second round pick Drew Lock, as the untouted Missouri quarterback went 4-1 down the stretch last season filling in for the undesirable Flacco.
Lock finished with a respectable 64.1% completion percentage, with seven touchdowns, and three interceptions, including a convincing road win over the playoff bound Texans in Week 13 when he went 22 of 27 for 309 yards, and three touchdowns.
After a 7-9 season that seemed quite impressive given their disastrous date with Flacco, the Broncos had a formidable offseason adding cornerback A.J. Bouye from the Jaguars, defensive tackle Jurrell Casey from the Titans, running back Melvin Gordon from the Chargers, and drafted wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from Alabama with their first round pick.
The Broncos are 50/1 odds to win the Super Bowl, 22/1 odds to win the AFC, 9/1 to win the AFC West, and +165 to make the playoffs.
