Ex-NFL Doctor Breaks Down What Happened With Tyrod Taylor's Bizarre Injury

Listen to former NFL team doctor Dr. David Chao join Outkick the Coverage with Clay Travis to discuss Tyrod Taylor’s bizarre injury that allegedly came at the hands of the Chargers’ team doctor, who accidentally punctured one of Taylor’s lungs while administering a pain-killing injection into Taylor’s cracked ribs.

The freak injury cost Taylor a start in Week 2 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, and will sideline the journeyman QB indefinitely, while rookie and former Oregon Duck Justin Herbert fills in.

Herbert went 22/33 for 311 yards and a touchdown versus the defending champion Chiefs, but Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn made it clear that Taylor will be the Chargers’ starter when he’s healthy.

Check out the interview above as Chao, who worked with the formerly known San Diego Chargers as their team physician for 17 years, details the logistics of such a procedure, how the accident may have occurred, how common this medical error is, and when he expects Taylor to return to the field.
