Colin Cowherd: NFL Media Has to Be More Honest About Patrick Mahomes' Flaws

Colin Cowherd: “Patrick Mahomes is great, likeabe, coachable, all the things you wan’t your quarterback to be, but SORRY FAWNING MEDIA, in between the pompom waiving we now have a second pattern that has developed with Patrick Mahomes. The first pattern is that he is spectacular and nobody else can do that. But the protective media doesn’t like criticism and here is the second pattern that has developed: when he gets bad, he gets bad FAST, and he loses confidence really quickly. I’ve always compared him to an artist, sometimes get gets writer’s block, but he also creates masterpieces. Yesterday was a great example. He was ridiculously good in the first half, off in the second half, and the dude was broken in overtime. He’ll turn it around but unfortunately, there was no other game. You had to be good in overtime and you weren’t… With Josh Allen you get a lot of jagged edges and Mahomes is a more refined Josh Allen, but now we’re seeing the jagged edges with Mahomes. There were excuses last year when Mahomes struggled – ‘they lost their offensive line.’ This one was on Patrick. He lost his fastball. Media – less fawning, more reality, and the ‘reality’ is that sometimes he goes into slumps. He was off in the second half, broken in overtime, and Burrow wasn’t.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the NFL media needs to be a bit more honest when it comes evaluating Patrick Mahomes’ wins and losses, as Colin says Mahomes needs to shoulder the blame for Kansas City’s shocking AFC Championship loss to the Bengals on Sunday.

Mahomes was just 5 of 21 for 55 yards in the second half, as the Chiefs blew a 21-3 lead against a 7.5-point underdog Cincinnati team at home.

Check out the video above as Colin details why the media needs to call out Mahomes when he plays poorly and not just gawk over him when he wins.
