Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are doing something we have never seen before.
By coupling their equally magnetic personas and giving the people exactly what they want in terms of media fanfare, trash talk, and press conferences, they are driving the overall price of their fight way up. This will allow them to both leave one fight with more money than they can spend (kidding, Floyd will always be able to spend) and prove to be the best way to promote a fight.
With the way athletes conduct in today's current business side of things, the hyper-sensitivity and 'copy-cat' mentality will make sure that this Mayweather/McGregor thing is emulated time and time again.
