During the course of a season, whatever the sport, the 'giants' at the top of the league are the ones that casual fans are interested in. When the Packers and Cowboys play, it doesn't matter what the record is, the national audience cares. When Alabama and Clemson play, you won't complain that it's the third year in a row, you will watch it. The same goes for the Yankees, Manchester United, and Lakers.
