This will not sit well with sports fans.
For context, the Houston Astros president Reid Ryan issued this statement on the series against the Texas Rangers, and why it will be played in St. Petersburg, Florida.
- There is nothing that says the Rangers have to accept this offer
- WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?
- Great job by the Astros finding another place to play
- SHAME ON YOU, RANGERS!!!
This statement would NOT have been issued on a whim, and was probably reflective of a much angrier Reid Ryan based on the language chosen.
Things like "the fact that the Rangers refused" and other sentences hint at complete disdain for the way the Rangers handled the situation. Both clubs are undoubtedly impacted by Harvey, but for the Astros to have to worry about THIS during these times is difficult to fathom.
Sometimes, it's bigger than baseball.
