Art Briles Deserves the Opportunity to Coach Again

Art Briles

Former Baylor head football coach Art Briles won't be coaching in the Canadian Football League after all.

Baylor fired Briles last year after the university determined that he either ignored or covered up at least 52 counts of sexual assault committed by 31 different football players during his tenure. Early Monday, news leaked that the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL had hired him as assistance head coach for offense.

The social backlash to the news was almost immediate, and a few hours later the CFL and the Tiger-Cats issued a joint statement indicating that Briles would not be joining the team after all.

"Art Briles will no longer be joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as a coach. We came to this decision this evening following a lengthy discussion between the league and the Hamilton organization. We wish Mr. Briles all the best in his future endeavours."

Clay Travis vehemently disagrees with the CFL's decision, and he believes it was a mistake to block the Briles hire. Art Briles is not in prison, he's never been charged with a crime, and he absolutely deserves the opportunity to coach football again.
