There Are No Winners in the Blake Griffin Trade

Yesterday afternoon the Los Angeles Clippers sent shock waves through the NBA world when they decided to trade superstar forward Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and draft picks.

On one hand, the Clippers were able to get out from underneath the 5-year, $171 million contract they gave Griffin last summer. On the other, they just traded away a man they tabbed as a 'lifelong Clipper' only a few short months ago.

Clay Travis says there are no 'winners' in this trade. Blake Griffin is unlikely to make the Pistons a championship contender, and the Clippers appear lottery-bound once again. It's essentially a net-neutral for both teams, and the only real 'loser' in this deal is Griffin.
