There's a new football league set to start and it isn't the XFL. Charlie Ebersol, son of NBC Executive Dick Ebersol, announced that in 2019 he will start a brand new football league, the Alliance of America Football. Ebersol says it's meant to be a safer version of the NFL, but also allow the athletes and fans benefit from the teams with things like live in game betting and a faster paced product.
The Alliance of America league would be the 3rd football league set to start in the couple years, with Vince McMahon's XFL projected to relaunch in 2020, making the question of over-saturation relevant. Jason Smith & Mike Harmon argue that there isn't a market for more football leagues, and that if you're hoping to take viewers from the NFL, you're going to fail.
