At #8 The Cleveland Cavaliers Select: COLLIN SEXTON

Cavs Take Collin Sexton

COLLIN SEXTON'S ONLY SEASON AT ALABAMA WAS AN EVENTFUL ONE. IN LATE NOVEMBER HE SCORED A CRIMSON TIDE FRESHMAN RECORD 40 POINTS IN A LOSS TO THEN NUMBER 14 MINNESOTA IN A GAME THAT, DUE TO EJECTIONS, SAW ALABAMA HAVE TO PLAY THE LAST 11 MINUTES 3 ON 5 WITH SEXTON 1 OF THE 3. IT PROMPTED MINNESOTA HEAD COACH RICHARD PITINO TO SAY "COLLIN SEXTON COULD BE A SINGLE TEAM JUST BY HIMSELF." SEXTON WOULD GO ON TO AVERAGE 26 A GAME DURING THE SEC TOURNAMENT, INCLUDING A GAME WINNING BUZZER BEATER AGAINST TEXAS A&M AND A 31 POINT PERFORMANCE IN AN UPSET WIN OVER 1 SEED AUBURN. DRAWING COMPARISONS TO ERIC BLEDSOE AND RUSSELL WESTBROOK, SEXTON'S COMFORT WITH CONTACT AND PHYSICALITY AT BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT IS ALSO AN ASSET. HE'S CLEARLY A SCORING POINT GUARD BUT NEEDS TO IMPROVE HIS ABILITY TO RUN AND OFFENSE AND BECOME A MORE CONSISTENT SHOOTER.
