Lakers fans around the nation surely applauded Magic Johnson on Tuesday when he adamantly told the media of his mission to bring in big name free agents over the next two summers. But along with excitement there should be an equal amount of caution.
Jason Smith and Mike Harmon point out that the historic franchise who once landed Shaquille O'Neal has failed to bring in anybody of note over the past decade. Magic's decision to sell hope in the face of the Lakers' recent mediocrity is a risky endeavor to say the least.
