“If you are Tyreek Hill and you have a scintilla of self-awareness, you cannot insist that the guy who threw a beer on you be punished to the fullest extent of the law while you got three years of probation for beating and strangling your pregnant girlfriend.”
-- Clay Travis.
Throwing a beer at a player while attending a sporting event is one of the lowest forms of fan behavior that there is, but Clay Travis took exception to Tyreek Hill and his agent Drew Rosenhaus coming out after the incident to demand severe punishment for the unruly idiot who tried to douse the All-Pro in suds after Hill’s electrifying 75-yard touchdown catch on Monday Night Football.
In December of 2014, Hill was arrested for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend, and ended up pleading guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation when it was later revealed that Hill had ‘thrown her around like a rag doll’, punched her in the face, sat on her and repeatedly punched her in the stomach (while she was still pregnant), and choked her.
Hill was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football team and would end up serving only three years of probation for the ugly incident.
Clay thinks the fan behavior was obviously unacceptable but thinks it’s a little ironic that a guy who served only three years of probation for beating up his pregnant girlfriend is going to come out and demand a guy who splashed beer in his face be ‘punished to the fullest extent of the law' when if the same were true for Hill, he would have never become an NFL player.
