Alexander Ovechkin Knocks 19-Year-Old Countryman Andrei Svechnikov Out Cold

Listen to Clay Travis discuss Alexander Ovechkin’s highlight reel knockout of 19-year-old Russian countryman Andrei Svechnikov in Washington’s 5-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 3 on Monday.

Even though the spectacular blow went viral on Twitter and was replayed countless time on sports television, Clay wonders how long the NHL can go allowing such violence when Svechnikov could have very easily hit the back of his head on the ice when he was falling backwards unconscious and been seriously injured, or even paralyzed.

Check out the audio below as Clay thinks we could see fighting banned overnight when we finally have a high profile case of an NHL player enduring a career-ending injury in one of these notorious hockey street fights.
