Mychal Thompson Says He Doesn't Expect His Son Klay to Sign in Los Angeles

This summer in the NBA is going to be one of the wildest free agency periods in recent memory. Big time names like Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard will all be hitting the open market in the beginning of July.

Laker legend Mychal Thompson says he has been getting a lot of questions about his son’s future. Kyle Goon of the OC Register caught up with Mychal Thompson and talked about the possibility of Klay Thompson coming over to the Lakers.

“He’ll be happy here, he loves the good weather,” Mychal said. “I always tell him when he’s retired, he’ll have another 40 years to spend here. He’s in no rush to get back.”

The Lakers have made it priority to acquire a top-tier free agent to play alongside LeBron James for the remainder of his Laker contract contract. If the Lakers do indeed strike out on the top-tier free agent, they will likely turn the attention to Jimmy Butler or hold off until 2020 when they can sign Anthony Davis if he hasn't signed an extension by then.
