Kentucky Derby Ruling Was as Bad as Saints/Rams Blown Pass Interference

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why the most controversial ending to a horse race in the sport’s history was an utter failure on the officials part, as the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby ended with the fastest horse being disqualified.

Maximum Security was the wire-to-wire leader and won the race down the stretch pretty handily, but was denied the victory when it was challenged that the horse had crossed over lanes after the final turn and impeded the progress of the pack.

When the dust settled, it was the first disqualification handed out in the historic race since 1968 when a horse failed a drug test.

Check out the audio below as Cowherd called the ending ridiculous considering the magnitude of the event and said when the stakes are at the highest the rules will always be interpreted a different way, and much like you don’t see pass interferences called on last second hail marys in the Super Bowl, you don’t call marginal obstructions on the wire to wire winner on the sport’s biggest stage.
