The Seattle Seahawks have Malik McDowell to recoup an $800,000 signing bonus they gave him after taking him with their top pick in the 2017 draft. A few months after he was drafted, McDowell sustained serious injuries in an ATV accident and never played a down in the NFL.
An arbitrator ruled that McDowell must repay the team his $799,238 signing bonus becausehe was in breach of his contract for sustaining a non-football injury.
The team was unsuccessful in recouping the money from their former draft pick, and they filed the lawsuit asking him to either pay them back or provide proof he is unable to do so.
McDowell's agent Drew Rosenhaus, says that he is medically cleared to play and expects him to play football in 2019. He met with the Dallas Cowboys after he was released by the Seahawks back in
