Aaron Boone: “MY GUYS ARE F**KING SAVAGES IN THAT BOX AND YOU’RE HAVING A PIECE OF SH*T START TO THIS GAME. I FEEL BAD FOR YA BUT GET F**KING BETTER. THAT GUY IS A GOOD PITCHER BUT OUR GUYS ARE F**KING SAVAGES IN THAT BOX. TIGHTEN UP RIGHT NOW, OKAY? TIGHTEN THIS SH*T UP!”
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected from Thursday’s game versus the Tampa Bay Rays after arguing balls and strikes with rookie MLB umpire Brennan Miller.
It would have been your run-of-the-mill comical baseball manager tirade and ejection if not for the incredibly hot mics the YES network was picking up during the second inning of the team’s day-night double-header versus their AL East rivals.
After Brett Gardner went nuclear in the dugout on a called third strike, cameras picked up the audio of Boone chirping ‘F**king get better now Brennan, let’s f**king go! Bear down, let’s go! Really bad start!’
After the next pitch to Yankees leadoff hitter DJ LeMahieu was called a strike, appearing to be a ball on the network’s strike zone graphic, microphones then picked up LeMahieu saying ‘Brennan that’s so far outside’, with Boone then injerecting again with multiple ‘let’s f**king go!’s and ‘that’s f**king terrible!’ to which Miller responded both times to ‘I hear you Aaron! I hear you!’
When the next pitch was a called strike, that’s when Miller tossed the still-chirping Boone.
