Michael Jordan: "He told us he would ‘shock the world', and asked us to believe him. We do.”

New Orleans Pelicans rookie phenom Zion Williamson announced on his official Twitter Tuesday that he has decided to sign on with Jordan Brand to begin his NBA career.

The former Duke prodigy is arguably the most heralded teenage athlete in sports history and could soon be the face of brand that brings in more than $3 billion a year in revenue.

The news puts to bed any rumors that Zion held any ill-will against the company for his infamous injury against North Carolina when his Nike shoe ‘exploded’ while Zion was making a cut with the dribbling the basketball at the top of the key while being guarding by UNC's Luke Maye. The blown shoe led to Zion spraining his knee and forcing him to miss the last four weeks of the regular season, before returning for the ACC Tournament.

Zion headlines Jordan Brand’s recent haul of budding stars the likes of Boston Celtics guard Jayson Tatum, former Gonzaga star and now-Washington Wizards rookie Rui Hachimura, and former Ohio State All-American quarterback Dwayne Haskins who is expected to start as a rookie for the Washington Redskins.

Zion’s acquisition should go down as one of, if not possibly the greatest get the company has ever had, as some have predicted the 19-year-old marvel could be a billion dollar athlete by the time his career is over.

Jordan Brand currently sponsors 21 NBA athletes, including the likes of Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Jimmy Butler, and Carmelo Anthony.
