Chargers GM Tom Telesco Says Team Will 'Move On' Amid Melvin Gordon Holdout

Miami Dolphins v Los Angeles Chargers
Tom Telesco: "We love everything that Melvin brings to this organization on and off the field and can’t say enough good things about that. You would like to get something done that works for Melvin and works for us but we haven't found that yet. I understand his position but you have to account for all 53 players and a salary cap. We move on with the group we have and very lucky to have three backs who we know can play.”

.Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco called into the Petros and Money show to discuss star running back Melvin Gordon’s holdout, as Chargers training camp officially opened without Gordon’s services on Friday.

Gordon is in the final year of a rookie contract that will pay him $5.6 million in the upcoming season, but Gordon reportedly wants to a new deal that would put his salary neck and neck with the National Football League’s highest paid running backs.

Currently the top 3 highest paid NFL running backs in terms of annual salary are Todd Gurley ($14.3 million), Le’Veon Bell ($13.1 million), and David Johnson (13.0 million).

Under league rules, Gordon will be fined $40,000 for every day of training camp he misses.
