Report: Ezekiel Elliott Will Sit Out Entire Season if Not Given New Deal

Washington Redskins v Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is reportedly willing to sit out the entire 2019 NFL season if he does not get a new contract. Elliott has not shown up for training camp and is instead working out on his own in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Elliott faces a fine of $40,000 for every day he misses.

Elliott is under contract through 2020 and is set to make $3.853 million this season and $9.09 million next season. He wants to sign a new deal similar to the four-year $57.5 million contract that Todd Gurley signed with the Los Angeles Rams last season.

The Cowboys say they have a "generous" offer on the table and believe that the two sides will come to an agreement before the start of the regular season.

"Just know that like so many things, it'll happen. It'll happen,"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "There literally is no concern on my part at all about any time frame. That'll happen. The results are too good for them and too good for the Cowboys. Think about it now. The results are too good for them and too good for the Cowboys. That always happens when it's that good for both of us."
