Superstars of Gymnastics

Simone Biles is "having a hard time processing" her brother Tevin Biles-Thomas' triple-homicide arrest.

On Sunday (September 2), the 22-year-old Olympic gymnast shared her first statement on Twitter addressing the incident. "My heart aches for everyone involved, especially for the victims and their families," Simone wrote four days after Tevin was taken into police custody. "There is nothing that I can say that will heal anyone’s pain, but I do want to express my sincere condolences to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy."

She added, "I ask everyone to please respect my family’s privacy as we deal with our pain. XO."

As previously reported, Tevin, who is an active-duty U.S. Army service member, was arrested on Thursday (August 29) for allegedly killing three men —Delvante Johnson, 19,Toshaun Banks, 21, and Devaughn Gibson, 23 — at a New Year’s Eve party in Cleveland last December.

The 24-year-old was charged with murder, voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault and perjury, according to a statement from Cleveland police, per People. According to the outlet, the shooting took place at an Airbnb rental when an "uninvited group" entered the home and "an altercation ensued" between the group and guests. Tevin, who has not yet entered a plea, is being held at Liberty County Jail in Hinesville, Georgia. His arraignment hearing is reportedly set to take place in Cleveland on September 13.

On the day of Tevin's arrest, Simone, who recently made history at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, tweeted, "eating my feelings don't talk to me."

As fans know, Simone and Tevin did not grow up together. The esteemed gymnast and her sister Adria were raised mostly in Houston by their grandfather while Tevin and their sister Ashley were raised by the siblings' great aunt in Cleveland, Ohio. All of which came after Simone and her three siblings were placed in foster care because their mother,Shannon Biles, struggled with addiction.
