Former Giants Teammate on Eli Manning Being Benched: "I Don't Get It"

New York Jets v New York Giants
Shaun O’Hara: “I don’t get it. I don’t understand the move after two weeks. I’m not saying this is a Super Bowl caliber team but we started out 0-2 in 2007 and turned things around. The way they lost the first two games, the way in which the defense didn’t stop anybody, the fact you were going up against two of the best defenses in the NFL in the Cowboys and the Bills, and you did it shorthanded at the wide receiver position… You didn’t get a great glimpse of what your offense can really be or do. It doesn’t feel like they gave this year a chance. Eli can still throw the ball and still made some great throws in that Buffalo game.” (Full Video at Bottom of Page)

Listen to former three-time Pro Bowl center and current NFL Network analyst Shaun O’Hara join The Dan Patrick Show to explain why he believes it was a big mistake for the New York Giants to bench Eli Manning in Week 3 in favor of former no. 6 overall pick Daniel Jones.

O’Hara was a member of the Super Bowl winning Giants team in 2008 who defeated an undefeated New England Patriots team vying for the Greatest of All Time label.

O’Hara doesn’t understand why the Giants panicked and seemingly gave up on the 2019 season just two games in, when the Giants defense had gotten lit up, and while the offense, playing extremely short-handed at the wide receiver position, ran into two elite defenses in Buffalo and Dallas.

Check out the video below as O’Hara details why the team should have given Eli another three to four weeks to see what exactly this offense is capable of.
