Who Deserves More Credit for Patriots Success: Belichick or Brady?

Brady or Belichick Responsible for Patriots Success?

Former Patriots QB Drew Beldsoe: “I do think there’s some intrigue, probably on both sides to see if they can do without the other guy. For Tommy to see if he can win without Bill and for Bill to see if he can win without Tommy. I think there’s probably some intrigue on both sides of that thing to see where the credit really lies.”

Today on The Odd Couple, Chris Broussard and Rob Parker discuss who deserves more credit for the Patriots success - Bill Belichick or Tom Brady - after former Patriots QB Drew Bledsoe told CBS Radio that the two may split this off-season. Rob says he believes Drew is right because he thinks there is some intrigue from Brady and Belichick to win without the other, and Brady would one-up people who think he is just a ‘system quarterback.’ Chris says only Rob and some people on social media think Brady is a system quarterback, citing winning is the best measurement and Brady has done that better than anyone. Chris also says he doesn’t think Tom Brady has an itch to prove he can win without Belichick, saying if he did then why has he stayed with Belichick for 20 years? Chris thinks Brady does want to stay in New England, but he doesn’t think the Patriots will want to keep him, and Belichick is the one who wants to win without Tom Brady. Plus, Chris says there is no tie between the credits for the 2 because Belichick has coached without Tom Brady for 7 years and didn’t have close to the same success, saying Belichick only made the playoffs 1 time! Rob says the Patriots were 11-5 with Matt Cassel as the quarterback in 2008 when Brady got hurt, and the rise of Jimmy Garoppolo would have the Patriots ready to go another 10 years if they didn’t trade him like Belichick wanted to.
