Zion Williamson's Debut Another Example of NBA Mishandling Prime Time Games

NBA Needs to be Better with Scheduling Games

On today’s edition of The Jason Smith Show, Jason and Mike Harmon discuss the debut of Pelicans F Zion Williamson. Jason says the narrative of this game changed in the 4th quarter when Zion Williamson went on a 3-minute, 17 point run; one that most of the NBA viewers missed because the game was scheduled so late. Plus, Jason says this is a huge reason the NBA and MLB continue to diminish in ratings – because they are bad at scheduling games with big headlines when it comes to compensating for the east coast time. Mike says because Zion was absent through the first 3 quarters, he doesn’t blame fans for wanting to go to sleep, and you can’t blame the NBA because it was still nationally televised. Jason says he disagrees and this should have been a prime time 8 ET tip-off because it was Zions debut, and in the NBA things can change at any instant.
