Listen to Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid join The Herd to discuss his first ever Super Bowl victory at the age of 61, as the 21-year tenured head coach had one of the longest championship droughts in modern sports before finally triumphing at Super Bowl LIV.
Reid is a dominant 207-128 (.618) for his career as an NFL coach, including making 15 postseasons out of those 21 seasons, but had never won the Super Bowl before last Sunday, losing Super Bowl XXXIX to the New England Patriots in 2004, and losing in five more conference championship games during his time with the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
Reid told Colin Cowherd that the epic streak of futility hadn’t been bothering him in the slightest, and said he’s in the business to ‘teach’ and not listen to media members discount his accomplishments.
Reid also talked about the now-legendary trade that netted the Chiefs Patrick Mahomes in a swap for Alex Smith, and discussed with Cowherd when he officially realized that Mahomes was a special phenom.
Check out the interview above as Reid talks about the respect the Chiefs had for the imposing 49ers defense, and compares the failed 2019 squad who lost to New England with the team who won it all in 2020.
