Doug Gottlieb Says Ben Simmons is 'Killing the Sixers'

Doug Gottlieb: “I said I believed Ben Simmons was the most talented one-and-done that we ever had in college basketball, but people think talent is all that matters and you’ll just be the best on talent alone. Simmons is a remarkable talent, but the problem is… Is he a WINNING basketball player? Does he care more about WINNING than anything else? He has not put in the work to make himself the type of shooter you have to be in the NBA… You can tell me he’s all about winning, but if you follow him on Instagram, it AIN’T about winning, it’s glam shots every day in front of a car, plane, or tiger. If you want to make it in this league, get in the gym and STAY in the gym… He’s KILLING the 76ers; forget his lack of makes, it’s his lack of TAKES.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Doug Gottlieb (guest-hosting for Colin Cowherd) explain why he thinks the Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the league’s most disappointing teams in 2020, as a team who once had aspirations to win their first NBA Finals since 1983, have now lost four straight games and dropped all the way to no. 6 in the Eastern Conference.

Gottlieb was discussing a recent ‘Inside the NBA’ segment where TNT hosts Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal ripped the Sixers for being the ‘softest’ team in the NBA.

Gottlieb says those sentiments are accurate, and says the main culprit behind the team’s freefall is point guard Ben Simmons, who really hasn’t elevated his game whatsoever since his Rookie of the Year season in 2017/2018.

Check out the video above as Gottlieb details why he thinks Simmons is ‘killing’ the Sixers, and why Simmons cares more about getting likes on Instagram than actually winning basketball games.
