WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair Says She Never Intended to be a Pro Wrestler

WRESTLING-WWE-GER
Colin Cowherd: “You were a volleyball player who chose athletics and didn’t initially embrace wrestling. Give me the day and the moment that you said ‘this wrestling is kind of interesting."
Charlotte Flair: “I didn’t grow up wanting to wrestle. My brothers grew up wanting to be just like my dad. I just never saw myself as a Diva or a model, and it wasn’t until Wrestlemania in Miami when the ‘Four Horsemen’ were inducted in 2012, one of the producers was trying to get my little brother in the business and get him motivated, and looked at me at dinner and was like ‘WHY AREN’T YOU DOING THIS??’ I was just like ‘….I don’t know.’ I wasn’t really doing a lot with my life. I had already graduated from college and I was a little lost. Three months later I reported to NXT in Tampa in July, 2012, and the rest is history.” (Full Interview at Bottom of Page)

Listen to WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair join The Herd to discuss her metaphoric rise the last few years, as the previously billed daughter of wrestling icon Ric Flair, is now one of the most recognizable faces in the industry, and one of the biggest draws in all of wrestling.

Despite her upbringing in the shadow of one of the most legendary names in sports entertainment, Charlotte told Colin Cowherd that she never grew up wanting to be a professional wrestler like her brothers, and said it wasn’t until 2012, when Charlotte was 25, that a WWE producer convinced the former collegiate volleyball player to give professional wrestling a try.

Eight years later and Charlotte is one of the sport’s most popular wrestlers as her own brand.

Check out the full interview below as Charlotte also discusses her daily life in one of the most grueling professions on earth, her bitter rivalry with Becky Lynch, and when she really knew her career had taken off.
