Rob Gronkowski on His NFL Return: "I'm Ready to Take the Field Again"

Rob Gronkowski: “I’m baaaaaaack. I always said when I have that feeling and it feels right, I will be ready to take the field again. And I have that feeling. I’m ready.”

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer is reporting that Rob Gronkowski texted him just hours after the shocking blockbuster trade that sent him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and said he’ll be ready to take the field for a reloaded Bucs team.

Gronkowski was traded from the Patriots to the Bucs in exchange for a 4th round pick, that will also net the Buccaneers a 7th round pick from the Patriots as well.

Gronkowski didn’t play a single game in 2019 and had been temporarily retired, even taking his talents to professional wrestling and winning the WWE's 24/7 belt.

There had always been a feeling Gronkowski would return at some point, however, as Gronk repeatedly made public remarks that he would be open to returning to the NFL if the opportunity arise.

Despite Gronkowski being in retirement, he was still under contract with New England, and will carry a one-year deal worth $10 million in tact for his exodus to Tampa.

Gronkowski is still just 30 years old and was a 5-time Pro Bowler and 4-time All-Pro from 2010-2018. Many around the sport have argued that Gronkowski is perhaps the greatest tight end in NFL history.
