Why Tua Tagovailoa's NFL Debut Doesn't Bode Well For the Rest Of His Career

Colin Cowherd: “I was thinking that Tua was going to be a nice pro, but as I’m watching all these young quarterbacks I see two things: they are BIG men or wildly athletic, and so I had an epiphany. I said ‘Tua is not going to work.’ He will win games, I mean Mitch Trubisky wins games, but he’s not going to be what we think he is, or what I thought he was. So yesterday he debuts and THAT was my epiphany. He looks small. He doesn’t have a dynamic arm, the coaching staff protected him, they had 8 first downs, 90 net passing yards, he was bad on third down, and they almost never maintained drives. I’m not making a judgement just off one game, but when I see stuff, I’m going to say stuff. I don’t feel like coaches are ‘protecting’ Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray, and Justin Herbert, but I kind of feel like yesterday they just protected Tua.Tua is going to win games, that is not the point here. This is a really good coaching staff, and I predicted Miami would beat the Rams coming off a bye… I see ‘small’ and I don’t see dynamic… Boy, you’re asking a lot for a college kid to come into the NFL and say ‘alright, you’re small, and not very mobile. You gotta be DREW BREES to win.’ That’s like throwing a quarter on the ground and asking an airplane to land on it. Why did Miami sit red hot Ryan Fitzpatrick? Because Miami has Houston’s first round pick, it’s going to be a top 5 pick, and they’re going to move on after 8 games if Tua doesn’t have ‘IT.’” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he jumped off the Tua Tagovailoa bandwagon just days before his NFL debut last Sunday, as Colin thinks that Tua’s sloppy and unremarkable premiere, albeit in a victory over the Rams, is exactly what he was predicting when he went on record saying Tua would become an NFL bust.

Check out the video above as Colin details why Tua’s 12/22 for 93 yards performance, with one touchdown and one lost fumble, while posting a 25.0 QBR score for the game, could be the beginning of the end for him in Miami, as Colin thinks the Dolphins could very well move on from him after 9 games with the team having Houston's first round, and potential top 5 pick in next year's Draft.
