(Funniest Tweets at the Bottom) Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was taking quite a beating on Twitter during and after the Steelers’ shocking loss to the lowly Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.
Seventeen and a half point favorite Pittsburgh lost their third consecutive game to a Bengals team who had just been smashed by dreadful Dallas, 30-7, and facing a backup QB in Ryan Finley who had a laughable career 48.1% completion percentage and 54.3 passer rating coming in.
Smith-Schuster was the obvious target after he was on the receiving end of one of the biggest hits in Monday Night Football history, as Smith-Schuster was blown up by Bengals’ safety Von Bell after catching a short pass from Ben Roethlisberger.
Smith-Schuster went completely airborne after being smashed by Bell, just a view feet from the same midfield circle that Smith-Schuster had been dancing on earlier during pregame.
The hit was so massive that the ball became dislodged from the wide receiver's grasp, and the Bengals recovered the football in Steelers’ territory.
Smith-Schuster has become notorious for his weekly TikTok videos of him dancing on the opponent’s logo before the game.
ESPN MNF commentators Steve Levy, Brian Griese, and Louis Riddick even made allusions to the TikToks after JuJu's huge fumble, saying that Bengals defenders could have used the video as bulletin board material, and given them more incentive to deliver extra punishment to the confident and colorful 24-year-old wideout.
The Twitter trolling really piled on when the official Bengals Twitter account uploaded a video of the catastrophic fumble with the caption ‘@VONN knocks it out from Pittsburgh TikTok star, WATCH ON ESPN’, gaining over 15,000 retweets, and over 70,000 likes.
Smith-Schuster finished with only 15 yards on 3 receptions and is now averaging just 47.7 receiving yards a game.
