Clay Travis is talking about what seems to be a never-ending story from the city of Dallas. Dak Prescott still doesn't have a long-term deal with the Cowboys. This story has been going on for two years, and still there is no long-term deal in place for Dak.
According to Clay, this needs to remain the case for this year. Dak is coming off an awful injury last season, and Clay says that it would be way too risky to give a guy over 100 million dollars right after an injury like that, especially considering how bad the Cowboys have been on the defensive side of the ball. Dak played under the franchise tag last season, and he was having an unbelievable year in a statistical sense before his injury.
Clay points out that the Cowboys already have so many big deals committed to other players and giving the biggest one of them all to a guy that you're not 100% certain of is not the way to go. Clay believes that the Cowboys must franchise tag Dak Prescott yet again.
