Aaron Rodgers Is Hurting His Own Cause

Doug Gottlieb: "It's all about communication and what it feels like is that Brian Gudekunst is a scout. That's it. He does a damn good job of putting together a team. Aaron Rodgers is saying that he has no bedside manner. No ability to relate. What's the ultimate takeaway of Aaron Rodgers calling out management? The initial reaction is that management is bad. The short-term win for him is that everyone thinks anyone in leadership is bad. Ownership is bad. But the long-term loss is that he wasn't willing to refuse to play for them and they won't trade him. They're not going to fire their general manager. He's going to show how powerless the Packers actually are and he makes it harder for them to do their job because nobody will want to come there. It's already hard to get people to sign in Green Bay, WI. It's going to be made even harder because Aaron Rodgers is telling you that you don't want to do business with those people. The same people who gave him more money in the history of the sport just two years ago! He's right to get it off his chest and he'll get praised on social media. But the reality is he made it much harder for them to do their job and they're not going to trade him anyway. He's going to accomplish the opposite of what he wanted to accomplish."

Doug Gottlieb thinks Aaron Rodgers is going about this the wrong way. He is under contract and the Packers would be crazy to trade him so all he is going to accomplish is angering management. He may see some short-term changes in his favor, but his long-term prospects are only being hurt by his discontentment.
