Patriots Cannot Stray From “Patriot Way” When Naming Starting QB

Today on “Straight Outta Vegas with RJ Bell,” RJ Bell and the Straight Outta Vegas crew recap the Patriots preseason game against the Washington Football Team. Mac Jones was impressive in his debut, which has made New England’s decision at QB even more difficult. However, with the Bills being the odds on favorite to win the AFC East, RJ believes the Patriots decision will strictly rely on which QB Bill Belichick believes gives them the best shot at winning, because that’s the “Patriot Way.”

“The Bills have 60% odds at winning the AFC East. I don’t think Belichick is ignoring that number, and strictly looking at the future. He still thinks they can win today. Whoever is going to start is a simple equation for him: Who earned the starting spot? Even if he thinks it’s smart to start Mac Jones to get a head start on the future Cam Newton will start if he is the better QB. Doing otherwise would go against their culture of the ‘Patriot Way.’”
