Dolphins Investment in Defense Could Mean Tua’s Clock Might Be Ticking

Today on "Straight Outta Vegas with RJ Bell," RJ and the crew discussed if the Dolphins investment in their defense, means that they are already prepping on moving on from QB Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins have invested millions in their defense, including a massive long-term deal for CB Xavien Howard. RJ believes this could mean the Dolphins doubt Tua’s potential as the future starter, and believe the owner and HC Brian Flores may be butting heads on the team’s QB situation.

“You can make the argument that signing (Xavien) Howard to a long-term deal is connected to them not having enough faith in Tua as the starter. The way I see it, the owner believes in Tua, but head coach Brian Flores does not. Last year when they unexpectedly benched Ryan Fitzpatrick, I don’t think that decision came from Flores. Tua was pulled multiple times during games last year. In my opinion, the reason Flores kept benching Tua mid-game , is because that was the only time the owner couldn’t stop him from doing so.”
