Is it Time for Vegas to Start Betting Against Mahomes and the Chiefs?

On today’s “Straight Outta Vegas with RJ Bell,” RJ and AJ Hoffman discuss the Kansas City Chief’s performance in their 20-17 win over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Kansas City has struggled this year, and nearly lost to a really bad Giants team on national TV. The defense has struggled, QB Patrick Mahomes isn’t playing like the MVP he was, but Vegas is still favoring the Chiefs. RJ takes a look at the Chiefs record against the spread in the last 20 games, and feels Vegas needs to pump the brakes on relying on the Chiefs to cover their wide margins.

RJ Bell: “Kansas City has won 14 of their last 20 games, that’s a 70% winning percentage. However, against the spread, they’re 4-15-1 in the last 20 games. That is bad. The spread is the great equalizer in sports. Teams that consistently cover are the ones who are truly great.... I feel like defenses have figured out Patrick Mahomes. He isn’t the type of quarterback to be patient and just take 5 yard chunks at a time. He gets bored and impatient. He needs the big play, and now that defenses are adjusting to take those away, I’m concerned we may never see the old Mahomes again.”
