Why Damian Lillard Should Request a Trade Rather Than Play With Ben Simmons

Chris Broussard & Rob Parker react to a report from The Athletic's Shams Charania and Sam Amick that covered the firing of Trail Blazers' GM Neil Olshey and talked about the future of Damian Lillard. Before the GM's firing, there was discussion of a deal for Ben Simmons as elaborated by Sports Illustrated because reportedly, Damian Lillard wanted to play with Ben Simmons:

Former team president Neil Olshey had discussed a possible deal that involved sending CJ McCollum, a first-round draft pick and another young player to Philadelphia. PerThe Athletic, the 76ers had at one point asked for McCollum and multiple draft picks and multiple draft swaps, which Portland rejected.

In the video above, Chris Broussard talks about how he's not so high on Damian Lillard and Ben Simmons teaming up in Portland. Broussard makes a case for why Lillard should be looking to join Philly:

"From a basketball perspective, I think instead of trying to bring Ben Simmons to Portland, you should be saying, 'I'll go to Philly to play with Joel Embiid, and Y'all can have Ben Simmons here in Portland.' That's what I think. Lillard would have a chance to win a championship. Bringing Ben Simmons to Portland? Rob, is that really changing their fortunes?"

Rob Parker agrees that it's not going to do much to pair Ben Simmons and Damian Lillard but disagrees with Chris on Lillard leaving town. Parker praises Lillard for wanting to remain in Portland and recruit. Watch the conversation in the video above.
