Warriors G Steph Curry broke Ray Allen’s career 3-point scoring record last night in Madison Square Garden and Dan Patrick heaps praise on the lovable superstar. While many would like to nitpick Steph’s accomplishment, Dan reminds us that Steph Curry has literally changed the game of basketball. Not only will he blow by Ray Allen, we won’t see his record broken until the next generation of players. The guy who will eventually break his record may currently be in elementary school, assuming he’s even been born yet.
Dan Patrick: “You’re going to get people who nitpick, ‘Has he really hit a big shot in a big moment?’ Alright, if that’s your argument, run with it. I don’t know how far you’re going to run with it but go ahead, run with it. When you talk about creativity, when you talk about imagination, when you talk about an ability to extend the game, change the game; he can go in, he can go out, he can hit mid-range, he can hit deep threes, he can get to the hoop...and you start to do the math here and you go, ‘OK, what’s he going to end up with and who can catch him?’ Well there’s nobody in the NBA right now who’s going to catch him. Because he’s going to probably put up between 4,200 and 4,500 made threes when it’s all said and done.”
