Doug Gottlieb & TJ Houshmandzadeh take over The Dan Patrick Show today, and they get a little heated about the spate of transfers in college football. Many players who are planning to transfer next year are declining to play in bowl games and it is affecting the entire landscape of the sport. TJ defends the players, calling out any coaches criticizing student athletes who are just trying to do what’s best for them individually, while Doug thinks the way the portal is currently structured is awful for sports and any programs trying to build consistency on their squads.
TJ Houshmandzadeh: “These coaches are leaving at the drop of a dime now because of the money they can make. Man, they better not say nothing about these kids looking out for themselves, thinking they have a better opportunity in the portal.”
Doug Gottlieb: “I disagree with you...and look, I was a transfer, OK? So I’m not sitting here telling you all transfers are bad, but I believe that not having any sort of...you don’t have to sit out, they’re letting you transfer within the conference, those things are terrible for sports...”
TJ: “Man, it’s great for sports! I love it, yes!”
Doug: “No it’s not, it’s awful, it’s awful.”
