Joe Burrow is who Detroit Lions Hoped Matthew Stafford Would Be

In the video above, Chris Broussard & Rob Parker discuss what to make of Matthew Stafford whose career has taken an extreme 180 towards the Super Bowl after parting ways with the Detroit Lions to join the LA Rams. The Rams are set to meet the Cincinnati Bengals led by Joe Burrow and the question becomes what to make of the legacy of Stafford which has now gone from admirable stats to potentially championship glory.

Chris and Rob believe that even though Stafford hadn't won a playoff game in Detroit, his validation still isn't truly fulfilled unless he wins the Super Bowl with the LA Rams. Chris does make the point that Stafford has at the very least changed the narrative around him. Rob Parker argues that Joe Burrow's success has further hurt the legacy of Matthew Stafford in Detroit.

Rob Parker: "Shame on people in Detroit because they're acting like the Lions are in the Super Bowl through osmosis...Here's why think it's bogus and overblown. He's on a team that's already gone to the Super Bowl. They added Odell Beckham Jr., Von Miller, Jalen Ramsey, they've got PLAYERS! Matthew Stafford is on a great team. The only way they don't win is if he messes it up. They have ALL the pieces. That's why it really comes down to him because he could be the one to mess it up. If you now believe that it was not Stafford and it was the Lions' fault, then explain JOE BURROW. Explain how a guy can go to a team that won 4 games last year and 2 games 2 years ago AND THEY'RE IN THE SUPER BOWL!! Because Joe Burrow is a franchise quarterback! He did what Matthew Stafford couldn't do which is raise up a franchise that had been futile when it came to the postseason. That's what you look for. All the great quarterbacks raise the franchise up...That's what you have to look at. Not taking a quarterback who is talented, adding him to an all-star roster, adding water stirring, and saying, 'Oh yeah! See, now we got it.' Stafford is better than Jared Goff? They went to the Super Bowl WITH Jared Goff! You can't do revisionist history and act like Jared Goff didn't do anything. It's just not true. Joe Burrow's success in Cincinnati is an indictment on Matthew Stafford when he was in Detroit. He wasn't that franchise quarterback to lift a franchise."
