Tiki Barber's Defense of Giants Owner Is Enabling NFL's Diversity Issue

Rob Parker: Shame on Tiki Barber! Tiki Barber doesn’t care because he has a comfy, cozy media job. He’s not in the market for a coaching job, but Brian Flores potentially blew up his coaching career at 41 with this lawsuit. There have been countless potential black head coaches who have been overlooked and are overqualified, better resumes than their counterparts and probably played in the league, and have been passed up by younger white guys. The reason we are where we are, is because of former players like Tiki Barber who defend them, thus enabling them. It doesn’t matter how they treated you, it’s about a collective movement.”
Chris Broussard: “I’ve never met any of these NFL owners, and I’m sure they’re nice people, as they were nice to Tiki Barber. But this, and racism in general isn’t about personal relationships. I don’t care if a white person doesn’t like me. I don’t care if they don’t like me because I’m black, you don’t have that much power over me. What I do care about, is when you have the power in society to hinder my quality of life because I, or anyone else is black. The point is, the owners are a part of a system that has systemically held back black people when it comes to coaching, or front office positions and they haven’t done anything about it.”

The Odd Couple’s Chris Broussard and Rob Parker react to former NFL player Tiki Barber’s comments about NFL owners not hiring black head coaches, or general managers. Chris and Rob both feel Tiki missed the mark and is using his personal relationship status to smokescreen the dark truth behind Brian Flores’ lawsuit.
