The Lakers got blown out by the New Orleans Pelicans to a resounding chorus of boos from the home crowd directed mostly at Russell Westbrook. They are well on their way to being an also-ran this season and questions regarding the future of the franchise continue to mount. And while Westbrook continues to feel most of the heat from all the criticism, it’s LeBron James who should be shouldering the blame. He is the one who wanted Westbrook here and, now that it seems to be falling apart, King James is looking for greener pastures yet again. It doesn’t make him a bad player or even a bad person, but he is very much responsible for this mess.
Doug Gottlieb: “All of these things come back on LeBron (James). They just do! It doesn’t make him a horrible human being. It doesn’t make him the worst teammate ever. It just makes him accountable for what has happened...”
