Friday on 2 Pros and a Cup of Joe, Jonas Knox, Brady Quinn and LaVar Arrington discuss how Todd Bowles immediately succeeding Bruce Arians exposes a problematic loophole with the Rooney Rule.

Brady Quinn: "Obviously this would have been a job opening that would have provided other minority candidates an opportunity to interview and get that experience and there's a benefit to that, but because of the timing of it, doing it once the start of the new league year begins, they don't have to go through that rigorous interview process where they have to bring in a bunch of [external] candidates. They could just elevate a guy and say yeah, he's our head coach, and then move forward with it. So I'm sure that's going to be changed in the future because at some point, someone else is going to try to do something similar, and this is obviously a way around it."
LaVar Arrington: "My first thought to that whole succession thing is, this might sound crazy because it's coming from a black man, but if you're a white coach that wanted an opportunity to interview for it, does this hit the same way? Like, were you overlooked? Did you not have a fair opportunity?... And then here's the other thing. If that were a white coach, how would that have been received? And I think we all kind of have the foresight of what that would represent had that taken place."
