Doug Gottlieb: “I think at the end of it, LeBron plays for the Lakers, but he’s not a Laker.”
Bill Plaschke: “You are dead on about that Doug, and I can tell you live in the area. I’m going to write this when the season starts: I don’t care if (LeBron) breaks the scoring record. I don’t care if he beats Kareem. I don’t feel connected to him in any way, and the town of Los Angeles doesn’t either. So why keep him around just for star value? He can turn somebody else into a champion and help the team rebuild toward the future. At this point, it makes more sense to get rid of him.”

LA Times columnist Bill Plaschke joined The Doug Gottlieb Show to further elaborate on details covered in his recent interview with Lakers President Jeanie Buss. Plashke spoke about his belief the Lakers desire Doc Rivers but will settle for a coach fit for Russell Westbrook, the willingness of the organization to meet LeBron James’ demands and his belief that there is no emotional connection Lakers fans have to LeBron.
